Guide to timely completion
1. Seriously do your Methods of Research with Statistical Techniques (RES290).
In as early as this stage, find an advisor so you may consult while doing your course requirements for Methods of Research.
Chat with MME Dean for additional details on possible advisors.
2. While doing other course works, regularly consult with your chosen adviser.
Remember that most graduate students do not finish their degree because of the thesis requirement.
3. When finished with coursework or if with 9 units remaining (3 units + Thesis1/Practicum1 + Thesis2/Practicum2)
Accomplish 1 copies of Form GRS-10-00 and ask adviser to confirm by affixing his/her signature
For MSME:
Please be guided by the following section assignments for ME Thesis courses. Ask MME program coordinator to open sections not in the list which should be assigned to your adviser
Enroll like a normal student but take in mind Thesis Courses are only by appointment consultations.
For MEP:
Enroll in MEP299 c/o GS
4. Prepare proposal manuscript (Chapters 1 to 3, Methods of Research format + References + Gnatt Chart + Proposed budget) and regularly consult with advisor. <insert sample work>
5. Finalize Proposal Manuscript and secure advisor's permission to defend
*you can schedule a proposal defense from 1st week - 10th week only
*you can schedule a final defense from 1st week - 8th week only
6. Schedule for Proposal Oral Defense
6.1 Consult adviser and 3-panel members
6.2 Confirm the availability of your advisor and 3-panel members on your proposed defense date
6.3 Fillup the forms and email to your advisor and 3-panel members to sign the following forms:
Mapua Form 07-01 - Signifies faculty agrees to become your panel member
Mapua Form 08-01 - Signifies the faculty received your final manuscript 1 week ahead of schedule and agrees to your defense date, time and venue
Mapua Form 20-01 - Payment for Final Oral Defense
Rates:
MS: Php 2000- Advisor | Php 1500 - per panel member | Php 500 - 'Admin fee'
*Total should be Php7000 for normal MS proposal oral defense
MEP: Php 1500- Advisor | Php 1000 - per panel member | Php 500 - 'Admin fee'
*Total should be Php5000 for normal MEP proposal oral defense
7. Secure Billing # from Graduate Studies and pay the Oral Defense Fee
Do not lose your Oral Presentation Receipt
7.1. Submit a photocopy of Mapua Form 20-01 and photocopy of Oral Presentation Reciept to MME Technical Assistant
7.2. Submit to the GS Technical Assistant Mapua Forms 07-01, 08-01, 20-01
8. Prepare for Oral Defense
8.1 Email the signed Form 07-01, Form 08-01, and Form 20-01 to Ms. Maricel A. Dadiz and Engr. Ricky D. Umali to schedule your defense
8.2 Wait for the confirmation of the Schedule and the Microsoft Teams Room (Use your Mapua account to access the room)
8.3 Prepare Video Presentation (preferably 15 mins presentation), Manuscript, and Grading forms below
8.4 Fill-up and Print the following Forms and send to Microsoft Teams Room assign

1 pc. Mapua Form 22-01
9. Oral Defense (Good luck and do a good job :-) )
Reminders:
Take notes on the comments given by the panel members
Make sure the forms are Completely filled out

10. Revisions
For minor revision:
Perform all required revisions and reflect revisions in final manuscript.
For major revision - no re-defense (grade withheld): have the panel members fill-up Mapua Form 09-01 and sign Mapua Form 22-01. Perform minor revision steps.
For major revision - with re-defense: repeat from step #4, skipping #6.
For failed, re-enroll Thesis 1 and possibly find a new topic.
11. If defense was done on term of enrollment, verify with advisor that the grade of P is given.
If defense was done not on the term of enrollment (a.k.a. IP) follow grade completion procedure.
12. Perform your experiment/s and data analysis while regularly consulting with advisor (it also helps to consult with panel members)
13. Prepare final defense manuscript (Chapters 1 to 6, Methods of Research format + References + Gnatt Chart + Proposed budget) and regularly consult with advisor
14. Finalize Final Defense Manuscript and secure advisor's permission to defend
*you can schedule a final defense from 1st week - 8th week only
15. Schedule for Final Oral Defense
15.1 If possible retain the original 3-panel members during proposal defense; if not Consult the adviser on changes in the composition of the panel members and accomplish Mapua Form 28-00. If the adviser needs to be changed for some valid reason, accomplish Mapua Form 14-01
15.2 Confirm the availability of your advisor and 3-panel members on your proposed defense date
15. 3 Fillup the forms and email to your advisor and 3-panel members to sign the following forms:

Mapua Form 11-01 - Signifies the faculty received your final manuscript 1 week ahead of schedule and agrees to your defense date, time and venue

19. Revisions
For minor revision:
Perform all required revisions and reflect revisions in final manuscript. Formalize required revisions by accomplishing Mapua Form 23-01 and formalize acceptance of faculty by Mapua Form 19-01.
For major revision - no re-defense (grade withheld): have the panel members fill-up Mapua Form 09-01 and sign Mapua Form 22-01. Perform minor revision steps.
For major revision - with re-defense: repeat from step #12, skipping #15.
For failed, re-enroll Thesis 3 and perform massive changes in thesis.
20. Presentation Requirement
Starting A.Y. 2018-2019, MSME students are required to present/publish at least 1 article in Mapua Journal (ME Colloquium or University Colloquium) and at least 1 article in a Scopus-indexed conference proceeding/journal. Article format from the proceedings/journal will be adopted (for ME colloquium, IEEE/ASME Mechatronics)
You can satisfy the Scopus requirement even before the final defense. ME colloquium only accepts papers that had been successfully defended.
Only articles culled from thesis is required to be submitted and language edited.
21. Proof-reading & Turn-it-in
Only articles culled from thesis is required to be submitted and language edited.
Proceed to SLHS/DAL for editing, pay SLHS editorial fee, request a copy of the Request for Manuscript Editting Form (SLHS-01-01), wait and secure Post-editting form
Submit to Turn-it-in for plagiarism checking (should be less than 10% overall, with no sources greater than 2%)
22. Final steps...
1) Produce 7 hardcopies of Article Format work. (GS Writing Guidelines)
