Guide to timely completion
1. Prepare draft final manuscript (Chapters 1 to 6 + References + Gantt Chart + budget + relevant Appendices) and regularly consult with advisor
Use Form X to formalize consultation
2. Finalize Proposal Manuscript and secure advisor's permission to defend
Use Form B to formalize advisor's permission to defend
3. Schedule for Oral Defense
3.1 Confirm availability of your advisor and 3 panel members on your proposed defense date
3.1.1 If there is a change in the panel committee composition from proposal defense, use appropriate form under miscellaneous forms
3.2 Request creation of MS Teams Room from thesis coordinator
3.3 Fill up, print and ask your advisor and 3 panel members to sign the the following forms:
Mapua Form 07-01 - Signifies faculty agrees to become your panel member. You can use previous Form 07-01 if there are no changes in panel committee composition
Mapua Form 11-01 - Signifies the faculty received your final manuscript 1 week ahead of schedule and agrees to your defense date, time and venue
Mapua Form 21-01 - Payment for Final Oral Defense
Rates:
Php 3000- Advisor | Php 1500 - per panel member | Php 500 - 'Admin fee'
*Total should be 8000 for normal proposal oral defense
4. Secure Billing # from Graduate Studies and pay the Final Oral Defense Fee
5. Secure a copy of your Oral Presentation Payment Receipt and send to technical administrator
6. Prepare for Final Oral Defense
6.1 Prepare PowerPoint and a 30-minute (max) pre-recorded video
6.2 Fill-up and Print the following Forms
4 sets of ME201L-2 Form C
4 sets of ME201L-2 Form F
4 sets of Mapua Form 12-01
1 pc. ME201L-2 Form Fa,
1 pc. ME201L-2 Form E
6.3 Upload all files in the MS Teams room created for the defense at least three (3) days before the scheduled defense date
6.4 Food
7. Online Oral Defense (Good luck and do a good job :-) )
Reminders:
Record Q&A session (recording will be deleted after 20 days so make sure you download a backup copy)
Take notes on the comments given by the panel members
Make sure the forms are Completely filled out
Mapua Form 12-01 (signed),
ME200L Forms C, F, Fa
Completed Form E after panel deliberation
8. Revisions
For minor revision:
Perform all required revisions, ask Faculty to sign Form E for acceptance of revision, Mapua Form 19-01 and Approval Sheet
Proceed to SLHS for editing (contact ELC for the forms), pay SLHS editorial fee, request for copy of Request for Manuscript Editing, wait and secure Post-editing form (FM-RO-73-00)
(Update as of 3Q1920): For those groups who cannot find an editor (internal or external), alternatively, you can use Grammarly (buy your own premium account) for its services, after which, fill out the Editorial Certification (FM-RO-84-00) -- This is equivalent to FM-RO-73-00 and waives the need for SLHS editorial fee and Request for Manuscript Editing
Submit to Turn-it-in for plagiarism checking (should be less than 10% overall, with no sources greater than 2%)
For major revision, have the panel members sign the updated form E. Perform minor revision steps.
9. Prepare A3 poster and journal version and present in Thesis Colloquium
10. Document submission
Prepare this Index Card and it will be your guide for the papers that you need to submit to the Thesis Coordinator
Submit in a clear envelope containing all documents.
Note: Starting 1Q1920, instead, submit all requirements to BB course MME_Thesis
11. Send registrar requirements to Thesis Coordinator (for uploading to registrar)
12. Grade Verification
Verify with thesis coordinator if all requirements are complete.
Ensure right grade is given. Grade for Thesis courses are only: Fail (F), Continuing (C), Pass (P)
