Good Day Folks!
I'm going to be trying something out
I currently have two giant family trees
I wanted to find a way to share the entire thing with you guys from a website called "Family Echo"
Unfortunately, there is no plausible way for me to share it via link here
So you guys will have to work for it
First, you'll want to get a computer for this... It's going to get messy
If you have any sort of microsoft thing on your computer, GREAT that makes my job a lot easier
If not, I'll find a different way for you guys, just let me know! (Edit: Scroll down to the bottom and there's a different, probably easier way to do it)
FIRST METHOD
Copy the text in the subpage in its entirety (text in the page labelled "Family Tree Code")
Open up the "Notepad" app on your computer. For me, it's a little blue icon
3. Paste the text into the notepad app
4. Should look like the second pic above
5. Click "File" (next to Edit and View)
6. Click "Save" or "Save As"
7. Make sure it's a text document (pictured below)
8. At this point, you're doing great
9. Go to Family Echo and make a new family tree (make sure you're logged in)
10. Click the button that looks like the image below
11. Click the text file you just downloaded
12. Choose whoever you want to start from (personally I like starting at Kievan Rus)
13. Click "Finish Import"
14. Aaaand that should be it! You can search up different countries and see all my little gender HCs and even some designs that I inputted :)
Feel free to try a few other methods to get it in there, as long as you have the code as a readable file for Family Echo, it might work. This is the way that works for me though so it BETTER work for you
Alright here's the SECOND method
Copy the wall of text in the page labelled "Family Tree Code"
CTRL + C again for good measure y'know?
Maybe one more time
Open a google doc
Input the wall of text (it might take a while to load...)
5.5. Click "CTRL + a" to select the entire wall of text, than click "CTRL + SPACE" to revert the text to its default format (any weird fonts will confuse Family Echo)
Click "File"
Click "download/save as"
Save as a text document (.txt)
It should look like the above with whatever name you want
9. At this point, you're doing great
10. Go to Family Echo and make a new family tree (make sure you're logged in)
11. Click the button that looks like the image below
12. Click the text file you just downloaded
13. Choose whoever you want to start from (personally I like starting at Kievan Rus)
14. Click "Finish Import"
15. Tadaaaaaaaa!
Bonus: This is what you SHOULD see before clicking "Import GEDCOM or FamilyScript..."
Bonus Bonus: If you end up getting a family tree with "Anon 1, Anon 2, Anon 3, Anon 4" the txt file is wrong (for instance, you didn't revert the font back to Arial, or you missed essential lines of code)
I would suggest redoing the whole proccess just in case, and if it still doesn't work, contact me via WattPad, YouTube, Instagram, or email (maplechofficial@gmail.com)
SPECIAL THANKS TO SLAVIORE FOR BEING MY GUINEA PIG AND HELPING WITH THE SECOND METHOD WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
