The Class A uniform is the official Cub Scout field uniform. Requirements vary by rank. Lions (kindergarten) do not wear a formal uniform; they wear the Lion t-shirt and cap. Scouts in grades 1–3 (Tiger, Wolf, Bear) wear the navy blue uniform shirt, and Scouts in grades 4–5 (Webelos, Arrow of Light) wear the tan uniform shirt.
The uniform shirt is worn with the neckerchief and slide corresponding to the Scout's rank, along with the official insignia: council shoulder patch, pack numerals (513), den number, world crest emblem, and rank badges as they are earned. Official blue uniform pants or shorts complete the uniform, although many packs do not strictly enforce this component.
The Class A uniform is worn at pack meetings, den meetings, and formal occasions such as the Blue & Gold Banquet. The Class B uniform (pack t-shirt) is worn for campouts, outdoor activities, and events where the field uniform is impractical.
