Manu Endemic is a small nature lodge and private reserve set along the legendary Manu Road, offering an intimate base for birdwatchers, photographers and nature lovers exploring one of Peru’s richest biodiversity corridors. Surrounded by lush foothill forest, the lodge combines comfortable accommodation and home-cooked meals with direct access to private forest trails, a hummingbird garden, feeders, photography areas and viewpoints, while the Manu Road itself provides exceptional birding across a wide range of elevations. Guests can explore independently or arrange guided birdwatching and nature excursions, with visits tailored to target species, photography or a broader discovery of the region’s wildlife. Whether staying for several nights or visiting for a day of birding, Manu Endemic is designed as a relaxed, welcoming place to experience the remarkable birds and natural diversity of Manu.
Manu Endemic lies within an exceptionally biodiverse transition zone between the Andes and the Amazon, where lush cloud forest and tropical foothill vegetation support an extraordinary variety of wildlife. The reserve is home to colourful hummingbirds, tanagers, toucans, antbirds and many other tropical bird species, alongside butterflies, amphibians, reptiles and mammals. Orchids, bromeliads, heliconias, bamboo and towering forest trees create a rich mosaic of habitats, with flowering and fruiting plants attracting wildlife throughout the year.

Manu Endemic grew from a passion for the wildlife of the Manu Road and a desire to protect a small but remarkably diverse piece of its forest. The lodge and reserve have been developed as a place where conservation, birdwatching and local hospitality come together, gradually adding trails, viewpoints, hummingbird areas and facilities that allow visitors to experience the surrounding nature at close range. Today, Manu Endemic continues to evolve as an independent nature lodge focused on preserving its habitat while sharing the biodiversity and character of the Manu region with visitors from around the world.
From Cusco, head to Paucartambo, and after a short break in the village, continue on the only road to Pilcopata. Manu Endemic is located at 1000m of elevation and will be on your left as you descend. Drive carefully, as the road is narrow!

One of my favourite places on earth, and where I saw the best birds ever. Fantastic Indian food served on request.
