Our flights are confirmed for:

QR 181 departing Doha at 01:50 on 04 April

QR 182 arriving Doha at 18:05 on 09 April

Please arrive at the airport at 2300hrs on April 3. We will meet just outside the coffee shop in the Qatar airways economy terminal

Money!

Similar to the Week without walls trips, the cost of the Austria Trip is 10500QR We will use the below payments:

October - 2000QR deposit

December - 4000QR installment 2

February - 4500QR installment 3

If the above do not work for you, please make arrangements with Ms Mandy. Always make sure you hang onto your payment receipts in case they are needed as proof.

Included in the cost:

  • Roundtrip International flights on Qatar Airways in economy class, from Doha to Vienna.
  • 6 nights’ accommodation at centrally located tourist class hotels, with the students in multi-bedded rooms with breakfast daily. (3 nights Salzburg and 3 nights Vienna)
  • 6 lunches and 6 dinners. (This is a full board trip with a total of 18 meals included)
  • All intercity transport as needed
  • Use of any public transport as needed for the itinerary.
  • All activities, museums and entrance fees for the visits stated in the itinerary.

Please note that the following is not included: travel insurance, visas, and drinks with meals and souvenirs.

Paperwork and Visas

There are many countries that require or do not require visas for the EU. It is the parent's responsibility to verify the visa situation for their children's nationalities.

  • All Qatari students must have an exit visa.
  • All Students must have a signed permission form (Ms Mandy will distribute)
  • All Students who are 18 (or nearing 18) will need an exit visa
  • Please fill out the document Student trip information Please note that it will only open with the STUDENT's QA gmail account.
  • Please email a copy of the medical insurance card AND a scan of the passport to Ms Mandy at mhollingshead@qasenior.org

Itinerary

Day 1 Friday 04 April

We arrive in Vienna at 07:20, and head directly for the hotel. After breakfast this morning we make our way to the beautiful park and grand palace of Schloss Schönbrunn, located in the suburbs. We don our headsets and go for a tour of the main rooms, followed by a short walk in the gardens if the weather is nice. After lunch, we then make our way to the Prater Park, for an afternoon of fun in this very old amusement park.

Dinner will be in a local restaurant and afterwards we make our way to a concert hall, where we see a performance by an Orchestra. Overnight Vienna.

Day 2 Saturday 05 April

Our first visit can be to the Beethoven Haus, which is dedicated to his time spent there composing, in 1802. Next, we have some free time for shopping and lunch in the area of the Naschmarkt, one of the largest outdoor markets in Austria. Following lunch, we do an exploration of the ‘City of Music’. We’ll make a stop and possibly have a tour of the State Opera Haus. Overnight Vienna.

Day 3 Sunday 06 April

This morning we have breakfast then we visit the Haus der Musik for a look at this modern interactive museum and its approach to music. After this visit, we head for the train and depart for Salzburg. We should arrive in Salzburg by mid afternoon, and we’ll drop off our bags at the hotel. Following our check-in, we begin to explore the city in a short race against the other group. Our dinner this evening is the special Mozart Dinner, which includes a concert of Mozart’s music, played by musicians in period dress.

Day 4 Monday 07 April

This morning after breakfast, we have an excursion into the heart of the Salzkammergut area. With its mountains, lakes and picturesque villages, the Salzkammergut is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and charming areas of Austria. We arrive at the picturesque village of St. Gilgen, situated on the splendid ‘Wolfgangsee’ and surrounded by the mountains. On arrival in St Gilgen, we take a cable car to the top of the ‘Zwolferhorn’ mountain, from where we have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains, lakes and valleys. We have lunch on the mountain in a ‘hutte’ and have some time to walk along the top a bit, before we take the cable car back down to the village. We then have time to explore the village and lakeside before we return to Salzburg. Dinner will be in a local restaurant. Overnight Salzburg.

Day 5 Tuesday 08 April

Today we go to the suburbs of Salzburg to visit the Hellbrunn Palace. We’ll take a short tour here and see the famous ‘Wasserspielewerke’ that fascinated the royalty of the era and is still today a technological masterpiece. We can also take pictures of ourselves at the gazebo, used in the scene in the film ‘The Sound of Music’ for the song ‘I am 16 going on 17’. Afterwards, we return to the city centre for lunch. Following lunch, with a look at the Mirabell Gardens, where we can sing ‘Do Re Me’ as well as take a look at the unusual topiary art of the Zwergelgarten (Gnome Garden) and the ‘Irr` (Maze) Garten. We will also visit Mozart’s Birthplace and his Residence.

Dinner tonight is in a local restaurant, prior to boarding the train back to Vienna. Overnight Vienna.

Day 6 Wednesday 09 April

This morning we do our final packing before heading off. We collect our bags and transfer to the airport for our flight home departing at 1145am. We arrive back in Doha at 1805hrs
