Name: Mandy Hollingshead ("Ms Mandy")

Grade/Subject: Music

Introduction:

I am a Canadian, grew up in the beautiful mountains of BC. I love the snow and the outdoors, and spent most of my summers camping in the mountains or driving across Canada. I graduated from Boston University with a Masters of Music Education and McGill University with a Bachelor of Music as well as a Bachelor of Education. I am certified to teach PreK - grade 12 music. I have taught students as young as 18 months and as old as 18 years. I don't have a favourite age group to teach, as each age group has something about them that I love. I do love running the large ensembles though, which usually start around grade 4.

From 2008-2014 at Qatar Academy, I officially taught in the Senior School, but you often found me volunteering in both the Baby school (ages 6months - 3 years) and the Primary school classes. I'm always happy to team teach units with generalist or specialist teachers. I was the producer for the senior school production each year, keeping tabs on our 30-40 student actors and 10-12 teacher volunteers. I ran the extra curricular concert band in senior school, and attempted to keep the orchestra going.

From 2014-2018 at ISF Academy, I taught Grade 4-5 General Music, Concert Band, and I was involved in getting all of our primary staff members up and running in their google accounts. This includes doing training on calendars, docs, drive, sites, and showing them how they can use the google tools to collaborate with each other and other classes around the globe.

In 2016 I started and cohosted a Podcast with resource site called "Teaching, Brewed"

From August 2018- present, at ASHK I teach K-8 Music and concert band.
