Have made a lot of notes over the past month or so. Some I can't read, but will try to post a bunch of them.
Money is backing some of the top contenders (of the Kelowna mayoral race). I believe that I have track records of morals and performance that trump them. I have served the commujity well in the past. I want to work with you all to bring wealth and health for generations to come.
self regulation/ self discipline should be about entertaining yourself but not through hurting others., rather to service of others in good ways. Hate to say it but it seems that the service to others is to the wealthy and they aren't necessarily from our community . Also, I have seen and heard about a lack of ethics in the police force. I have seen examples of good ethics too. Forces like the police should be setting examples of service to the local community, not to itself or the wealthy and especially not to those outside the community they are supposed to be representing. I once thought the RCMP to be a class act... seems to me that there are too many examples of it being on the back end of class (spell that out if you want, becomes a bit of a funny). I'd like to help change that in a good way.
The best drug, is one of belonging and celebration. I believe that the thrill of winning a national championship in a home crowd setting with hundreds of supporters is basically an extension of a good song and stories with company around a dinner table. Culture can bring this feeling to the table all the time.
we read Jean Val Jean/ Les Miserables in grade 7 or 8. It made an impression. I still remember the scenes where he reached into his bed and woke up because it was not the bench he was used to reaching to grab as he changed his body position. I also remember the wife of the preacher saying that they would wake up and find themselves dead, reflecting her fear of sleeping in the same house of a former convict, Jean Val Jean. He would become mayor of a town. If he could, it doesn't seem a far stretch for me to.
In grade 5 or 6 Elvis was an actor that i loved to watch in his fun movies that involved singing, dancing and lots of action. I remember Elvis songs playing all day on the radio, soon after he passed. I would get a few records of his and play them regularly. IN the ghetto was one song that was not fun like the others, but one that I wrote out and tried to memorize. I think it was my first insight into the cycles of poverty. My grade 4 to 6 years were in Summerside and we learned songs that celebrated the rich maritime history. Creativeness in schools should be encouraged and my songs are not meant to entertain folk so much as to entertain myself. I want to inspire people. I set a bar with my running, I set a bar with my business.. i want to set a bar for the next mayor that will not so much be hard to beat but which every community will strive to at least meet. ( I once read that the root world of competition is strive together. I like the idea of bring past, present and future together in this idea of culture via the infinity sign.. the past tends to repeat itself but we can learn and bring things better for all, not just making the wealthy more wealthy off the backs of any that don't have the will to work )
we tend to fun problems, not solutions. A stable community is a healthy community. Sports and music transcend politics. Crime is a sign of a bigger problem, not the main problem. We tent so fund the problems not the solutions. We pay for lack of peace.. why not pave the way for peace by striving to bring a culture that gives all a sense of belonging, a sense of pride- Okanagan pride. Homelessness and addictions are better prevented than cured- there is money in this via savings of police, hospitals and many more - health of community members should be the goal not money into the pockets of the professionals treating the problems or the policies/ politicians promoting the idea of throwing the money at the problem. A stable community is a healthy community. Through tourism and education this can become a money profit idea / ideal too. We can be and model the peace we need to see in the world.
…more to come.. (Oct 11th, 2022 is when i write this last bit and add all the former to this new page) have some notes on my computer, and more scattered about. at the rutland library right now. Workout to do later and then planning to help someone i met who has aged out of social assistance but has not been able to get a pension sent. He has had severe head injuries.. the system is frustrating for him. He has fixed my van signal and back light last week. Today he put my negative wire connection back together for my converter/ solar panel. I have put him up in an extra trailer I had after learning that he had been asked by bylaw to move. Hard being homeless at any time, but when over 65 ? Great guy having great challenges. Glad to be able to call him a frined. Shared a dinner last night that included some food another fella gave us who i learned was living out of his car. Another great guy who just needs a stable situation to work from.
