Be Prepared is the motto of Scouts Aotearoa. This is something we instil in the Scouts by helping them gain the appropriate practical, environmental and social skills to be well rounded individuals of society.

There's a myth about Scouts, it's all about outdoor things like tramping and camping and knot tying. This is only a small part of what the Scouts do! They also do teamwork based activities, cooking, challenges around practical skills, lots of games and getting out and about into the community having fun!

With the directive of youth led, adult supported activities the scouts get to choose what they get to do day to day!

Scouts also get the opportunity to be involved in national and international events! From the pinnacle event of Jamboree (held every 3 years) and the annual international weekend Jota/Joti (Jamboree on the air and internet) where scouts get to meet other scouts from Aotearoa New Zealand and the rest of the world.

Behaviour: Good behaviour is the joint responsibility of the child, parent and leaders. Everyone is expected to cooperate, follow instructions, and trust people and property with respect. Leaders use positive reinforcement and a reward system to encourage appropriate behaviour.
