  • Tourism in the U.A.E. and MENA Region (Graduate)

This course specifically examines tourism in the United Arab Emirates and in the Middle East and North Africa region. It explores current and future trends and unique components of the destination. Emphasis is placed on the planning and management of tourism in the region.


  • Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication

The influence of culture on interpersonal and cultural communication processes. Focus on the impact of values, beliefs, perspectives and verbal and non-verbal codes on intercultural interactions. Development of interpersonal communication skills that improve competence in communication across cultures.


  • Planning and Promotion for Events and Festivals

Develops a fundamental understanding of the various types of events and festivals. Examines the events planning process, organization, implementation and evaluation, including the creation of comprehensive event proposals, feasibility studies, the development of integrated communication strategies to meet the identified objectives, and managing the event or festival as a project.


  • Communicating Tourism, Destinations and Heritage

An integrated approach to the application of public relations, advertising and marketing strategies for the effective promotion of destinations, cultural heritage and other tourist attractions, facilities, products and services. Emphasis on the use of multichannel, multimedia communication to build destination image, raise awareness, attract and inform. Uses case studies of global and local best practices.


  • Heritage Tourism

This course aims to provide a comprehensive review of the main issues and concepts relating to heritage tourism. It considers the heritage tourism broadly to include culture and nature in both urban and rural contexts, and presents an in-depth discussion of important global issues. The course provides a balanced view of both theoretical issues and applied subjects that managers must deal with on a daily basis.


  • Tourism Destination Management

This course focuses on providing knowledge to students about models and theories of destination management, management needs and processes. It provides information about how tourism destinations are developed, and the issues and skills involved in their operation including their management, marketing and integration with the community. It provides students with skills to handle tourists/visitors, host communities, private sector and public sector at tourism destinations – to enable a destination achieve sustainability and enhance tourist visitor satisfaction.


  • Resort and Tourism Establishments Management

This course introduces the concept and importance of tourism villages, resorts, and preserves, including their social, cultural, and economic impacts. Besides, it outlines the modern methods of planning and managing such establishments with consideration of local environment and the integrity of tourism services (accommodation, food and beverage, transportation, entertainment) with focus on studying all related organizational elements and forms, such as human resources, marketing, and finance.


  • Electronic Tourism and International Communications

This course addresses the importance of e–commerce in tourism and its supporting infrastructures, whether related to information and business networks, GIS, human resources, insurance, or payment. Furthermore, it explores the importance of E–business applications in tourism and its various related activities, such as airlines, transportation, hotels, car rentals, restaurants, and cruises.


  • Tourism Correspondence in English

This course concentrates on learning the various types and styles of tourism correspondence between travel agencies, or between travel agencies and tourists, or between hotels and tourists, or between any institution and individual related to tourism. It focuses on the writing skills of the various formats needed for such correspondence.


  • Management of Tourism Offices and Travel Agencies

This course explains the importance of tourism offices and travel agencies in the tourist activity as a mediator between tourism activities and the tourist where they play many of the roles in the process of ticketing and organizing tours. It shows their role in promoting and marketing of tourism through introducing knowledge to tourist and tour operators. It deals with the importance of the administrative dimension in planning, organization, direction, marketing and control of the work of the tourist offices.


  • English for Tourism and Hospitality

This course aims at developing the students’ English skills as related to tourism and hospitality activities. It covers various types and styles of English communication with tourists on sites and guests in hotels in English terms and expression appropriate to their needs at various times.


  • Research Methods and Graduation Project

This course aims to provide graduate students with a basic background in research methods. This course examines principles, methods, and strategies for planning, designing, evaluating, and applying studies of tourism.
