People say the more you learn about coffee, the more you'll realise it is a never-ending path. the same goes for the world of coffee brewing. All the elements we know: the coffee, water, brew devices, and the like, will drive us deep down to a point where we would question ourselves: Is this the best way to brew this coffee? What factors do I have to tune to get a sweeter cup? While exploring the science that's happening behind the brew, we also have to bring ourselves back to where we started brewing coffee: Do I enjoy the cup of coffee I'm brewing today?
In episode 3, we are glad to have SK Leng (Constant Gardener Coffee), Jasmine Toh (Lunabarcoffee), Helmi (arkib kopi) as our panellists, and Joachim (Ome by Spacebar Coffee) as emcee to discuss on coffee brewing, sharing about their personal approach to study, to brew and to enjoy their coffee. Many audiences are curious about how to train their sensory skills, the importance of brewing water and how it'll affect the outcome and what is the end goal we're pursuing by serving specialty coffee in Malaysia.
Along with this topic, we hosted our very first brewing competition - MBF Brew Master where we have 15 brewers come together to share & learn about the stories behind their brewing techniques.
“To cultivate a learning culture through exchanging skills & knowledge for a better specialty coffee industry”
The purpose of this competition is to create an opportunity for coffee brewers to come together, share their brewing skills and knowledge, and cultivate a culture of learning. We aim to encourage all participants to be open-minded and eager to learn from others, with the goal of improving ourselves and the specialty coffee industry as a whole. There are 2 individual categories in this competition: Judges’ Choice - Brew Master & Public Choice - Brew Recipe Master.
