About me
I am most proud of having hiked the "Half dome" in Yosemite, CA and "Trolltunga" in Norway". Both are epic hikes, 25 km, all day with 5000 feet vertical. I was only 12 & 13 at the time, and not sure how I did it. I was always trying to stay ahead of my brother, which is how I may have done it. Friedrich Nietzsche a German philosopher once said "He who has a why to live, can bear almost any how". I was probably also naive and just following my parents. Possibly staying a little naive is what Steve Jobs meant when he said "Stay hungry, stay foolish." I have always been able push myself to try harder. Deep inside me, I am nothing without my grit and determination. I work hard and I try to stay humble.
What am I most proud of?
I am also proud of my music and track. Music brings me joy. I also enjoy nature hikes and track. I am a distance runner. I have run 3 half marathons, two 10 milers and several 5K's. I was 1st in my age group for LI 5K with a time of 24 minutes. Both hiking and running allow me to push myself, helping me realize, that often I can accomplish things even beyond my own expectations.
Why boarding school?
Growing up, my brother and I looked forward to summer camps where we would spend 6-8 weeks with friends. My brother now attends a boarding school and he tells me about his friends and how he enjoys being independent. When I visit a school, I am interested to see if other kids are friendly and happy. A beautiful campus is good but, good people are more important. A good school is where other good people are, to inspire and motivate one another to be better.
