Come Join The Fun!

Come join the fun! We are hosting our first annual King of Fling. This is a great activity for families, students, staff, and the community to design an ancient engineering device such as a catapult or trebuchet to see who can launch an object the farthest.

This is designed to have fun in engineering and problem solving. Here is how the schedule works

Total Time: 3 Hours

1. Pick Up Materials

2. Sketch out a Plan

3. Build

4. Test!

Materials

Here is a list of materials for you to build on the day of the event. These are included in your kit and you will have to build with these constraints!

PVC

  • 20 foot of 3/4 inch PVC
  • 4 foot 1 inch PVC
  • 10 T Shape PVC pieces
  • 8 45 degree PVC pieces
  • 1 1inch cross PVC
  • 1 inch PVC cap
  • 4 ft x 1ft PVC

Non PVC

  • Hanger
  • Duct Tape
  • PVC Glue
  • String
  • Object to launch

Tools will be provided such as miter saw and box, pvc cutters, tape measure, glue, duct tape, safety glasses, etc.

Depending on what you construct we will use human power to power your device.
