Greetings!
I am really looking forward to the Make Yourself Into A Maker Builds 1-3 PD Workshop! This event promises to be an exciting few days of learning about innovation in education! I am writing today to update you with some very important information you’ll need for this event. All information can be found on the website: https://sites.google.com/view/makeyourselfintoamaker/home
Event Dates
Thursday, August 30th 8:30 - 3:30
Friday, August 31st 8:30 - 3:30
Additional 4 hours of on site work time where I can help you with whatever you need back at your school.
Event Location
We will be hosting this workshop at the
Mississippi Bend AEA 9
Address: 729 21st St, Bettendorf, IA 52722
We will be starting off in Room 3 at 8:30 am
Dress
Please don’t wear super nice clothes. We will be making and creating both days so there is a chance that you might spill paint or glue or cut your clothes. Please don’t wear open toed shoes or anything that might get caught in tools. Place mullets and any long hair back in a ponytail.
Technology
We will be using your phone to document some of your builds and designs for the work we are doing. Please bring your phone to allow for photo and video.
Please bring your own device to access materials and resources. We plan on spending most of the time networking in person, but there will be times for online searching and adding of materials.
A main goal of the two days is building not only kits and ideas, but relationships with the people in the room. There is much less tech than a typical PD and that is designed to keep your flow states high and not distracted by email and such.
Materials
All materials will be provided for you for the making.
Full Stack Learner Community
I have created our own special Slack Educator group focused on all things STEAM, Makerspace, PBL, and Innovation. Head over to this page to learn more and to sign up. I cannot wait to see you over in the Slack Group. We will be using this space to share our work not only with this group, but with the previous groups who have one through the PD and some amazing educators from around the world.
I have a ton of great things in store for you starting with the first montly call on September 5th where I will be sharing the September build challenge and some exciting news for the future.

We Are Paperless and Virtual
As this is a maker workshop, and we are eco conscious, we have gone paperless. We will be using many consumables as is so this is one less piece of scrap paper going to the wayside.
Workshop Sponsors and Volunteers
Thank you to these vendors, without these companies, the cost of the conference to attendees would increase significantly. Please take time to visit the vendor hall during the conference.
This year we have seven Corporate Sponsors who will be on the main floor:
Share
During the workshop we’ll be tweeting and sharing to the @mbaea and @coffeechugbooks social media account on Twitter. We hope you’ll join us and share what you’re learning at the workshop so others can discover the amazing work! There is also a shared Google Photos Album being used for the workshop.
Add the Google Photos app to your phone and add to the album at https://photos.app.goo.gl/NH62yxjQJLzaGOCL2 I have provided you all access to submit your own photos as I won’t be able to capture it all.
