Module 3. Manufacturing using CAM programs
Module 3. Manufacturing using CAM programs
Duration: 50 hours
EQF: 4
ECVET: 1,8 C
Activity 1 - Lesson - Activity 1 - Overview - frontal lesson
Step 1: Present students with an overview of the industrial 2D and 3D Modelling software available.
Step 2: Show students the main steps to be followed for creating a basic 2D or 3D Model for CAM production systems (Sketching, extrude, revolve, sweep, etc).
Activity 2 - How to read engineering drawings - frontal lesson
Step 1: Present the students the parameters to take into consideration when reading an engineering drawing.
Step 2: Present the students with real engineering drawings to be discussed with the class.
Activity 3 - Guided 3D Model - Simulation
Step 1: Guide students in a step by step process to create a basic 3D model.
Activity 4 - Individual work
Step 1: Provide each student with a basic engineering drawing.
Step 2: Ask them to create a 3D Model starting from the drawing. The teacher will provide a checklist with the main steps to be followed.
Step 3: Ask students to present the work done.
Tools and materials needed:
a computer lab with a big screen displaying the teacher's monitor
PC for each student
Key Learning Outcome(s)
K3 To describe the main steps for creating a basic 2D and 3D Model for CAD/CAM systems
Assessment methodology: the achievement of the learning outcomes will be evaluated by assessing an individual assignment where the student is presented with an engineering drawing and he/she is to draw the 3D model of the part. It is suggested to have about 3 or 4 drawings with increasing complexity.
