Why I teach...

I get up in the morning to face the inequitable world we live in and try to be an agent of change in the wake of these realities. Specifically, through teaching at the community college level, I find my sense of purpose from a deep desire to help eliminate the achievement gap so that students from all backgrounds can achieve their goals. Teaching, for me, is not only confined to the classroom setting, but I believe we should also contribute to the overall campus culture and maintain academic involvement in order to confront the institutional and structural education deficits that contribute to the achievement gap.
