Md Majharul Islam is a Ph.D. researcher in Electrical Engineering at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in the Mixed-Signal CAD (MSCAD) Lab and UA Power Group under Prof. H. Alan Mantooth. His research connects semiconductor process technology and circuit design through physics-based compact modeling and Process Design Kit (PDK) development for wide-bandgap and emerging devices.
At the Multi-User Silicon Carbide Research Facility (MUSiC), he contributes to PDK development for a SiC CMOS process. His work spans the device modeling lifecycle: test structure design, electrical characterization, parameter extraction, model benchmarking, and integration into EDA flows through PCells and DRC/LVS rule decks. He has developed and customized models including BSIM4, BSIM4SiC, and PSP. He authored a Verilog-A compact model for AlScN ferroelectric capacitors aimed at high-temperature non-volatile memory, and has co-authored work on β-Ga₂O₃ MOSFETs and Schottky diodes.
He is also developing machine-learning-assisted approaches to device modeling, including parameter optimizers and AI agents that automate simulation, model tuning, and physical verification.
Before his doctoral studies, he was a Lecturer in EEE at Sonargaon University in Dhaka and an Assistant General Manager at the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, the country's largest electricity distributor. He also completed a government-sponsored fellowship at Fujitsu Research Institute in Tokyo. He holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas (2026) and a B.Sc. in EEE from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. He is a Hearts Foundation RISE Fellow and an IEEE member.
