LANGUES DE CHAT

Langues de Chat Cookies (LDC as we like to call it for short) are a classic delicate, light, butter French biscuit. The traditional French "Langue de Chat" biscuits received the name because of its unique long and flat shape similar to a cat’s tongue. In Japan they can be round, square or even rolled into tubes. Langues de Chat cookies are a popular chocolate sandwiched cookie that originated from Hokkaido, Japan. A variety of flavours can be found in souvenir shops all over Asia.

We do not add any food colouring to our biscuits, so the colour you see is from natural ingredients. To give our matcha LDC cookies a nice deep green colour, we use the matcha powder from grown tea leaves from Shizuoka, Japan that are then processed in Uji, Kyoto. They are not only used in tea ceremonies, but also ideal for matcha-flavored sweets. As for our strawberry LDC, we blend freeze dried strawberries into our cookie batter, which is why you’ll see red specks throughout our strawberry LDC cookies. By adding the freeze dried strawberries, you’ll be able to taste the tartness and aroma from the actual fruit. High quality chocolate is then sandwiched between our freshly baked LDC cookies. We use one of the finest Belgian baking chocolates, Callebaut.

Our cookies are approximately 1.5" x 1.5" (4cm x 4 cm). Our usual Langues de Chat flavours consists of:

Yes! For our cookie lovers that don't enjoy chocolate, we offer our LDC inspired Japanese biscuits on its own. *Cookies that are not sandwiched with chocolate will be crispier than the sandwiched LDC cookies.

Our treats are best enjoyed fresh within 3 days at room temperature and stored away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

If not consumed within 4-5 days, please store the treats in the fridge or freezer in an airtight container. Please bring the treats to room temperature before consuming.

Please note that the LDC cookies may soften over time due to the moisture from the chocolate.
