• The museum “la maison du bocage” is set in a pretty mansion which was transformed on a farm in the 19th century. The botanic garden is in its outhouse. Since 1983, the habitation part and its agriculture annex guarantee the development and conservation of botanical patrimony. Its exhibitions illustrate landscape specific features, activities and history. Divided in the old barn and on the upper floor of the habitation, they handle landscape specific features, propagator activity in its future perspectives, cheesemaker industry in the Avesnois-Thiérache but the beekeeping too. A hood barn and typical cob and a forge complete the interior visits. In the outdoors an overview of the old agricole machines is displayed; plows, hay blowers, tractor, apple press… Temporary exhibitions are scheduled according to an annual calendar.

The importance of biodiversity in the natural environments and gardens.

• Since 2015, the botanical and pedagogical garden complete the museum and surround the outhouse with different urban environment areas on the natural botanical spaces. ( landscape area, urban tree-filled parc, its plants collections, semi-wild zone, playful path of sense, pedagogical ponds, assay gardens spaces, two orchards whose one conservatory with its natural meadow, ethnobotanical garden, animations room and lecture theater…) The botanical garden is recent (2015-2016) and it’s on perpetual amenagements since then. ( amenagements, themes and evolving collections, activities and pedagogic offers…) It extends for 2ha and more with some spaces spread in the city. Our public garden is a relaxation, pedagogical, conservation and exploration place for all; To relax, to rest, to stroll, to take a walk with your family, observe the nature, recognize the plants, understand biodiversity, botanic, but the usefulness and use of plants, the research and trial too. Our missions are ruled according to the charter of the botanical french gardens and francophones country whose we’re members.

• Activities, outing, garden and nature activity

Multiple animations and activities for the grown public are scheduled such as outings on the botanic forest according to an annual calendar. The majority of them are free (except exceptions and participants) ! We’re hosting different types of groups, ( scholar, charity, IME..) on reservations and plannings for diverses pedagogical animations. ( we’re proposing different themes around botany, forest, nature and gardens, wildlife and flora…) Host ability groups : 2 groups of 25/30 persons max on the same time. Time : 2h, ½ day, entire day. Picnic is possible on site.

Our crew is composed of 2 nature animators; Florian and Thomas, both of them graduated from management and protection of nature and environment diploma. Passionate by ground. They guarantee the outing and animation all along the year. Refer to the detail with reference to the visit of the site,
