Lab Research Specialist
The Liao lab in the Physics and Bioengineering Departments at Northeastern University seeks a full-time Research Specialist to support the activities of a biophysics laboratory that works at the interface of neuroscience, biophysics, and bioengineering. The lab uses single-molecule imaging, genetic manipulation, whole-cell super-resolution microscopy, and physical modeling to understand how neuron structures and functions emerge from the elementary molecular processes, under both normal development and pathological stresses.

Responsibilities
Current projects involve transgenesis, CRISPR/Cas9 editing, spinning disk confocal imaging
The primary responsibility will be to support one or more of the Lab's ongoing projects by planning and executing Drosophila genetic crosses and dissection
Other scientific activities include molecular cloning and genotyping
Administrative activities may include tracking and ordering lab supplies and general lab maintenance
Expected to present progress and data in scientific group meetings
Orders &/or maintains inventory of reagents &/or lab supplies
Train students
Qualifications
The position requires strong basic skills in genetics
Must have strong organizational skills and work well in a team
Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Biology or related field
Demonstrated laboratory experience
Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols
Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations
Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
Ability to work with animals (Drosophila fruit flies)
