About

Maidstone Pubopoly was the product on one of those excellent conversations you only get in the back room of a pub, late at night after several of the venues finest were consumed. This group of reprobates friends decided that there were enough venues in the County Town that it should be possible to organise a Monopoly-style pub crawl, much like those common in London. Soon enough they started scribbling on bar mats, phones, scrap bits of paper, and loudly arguing about which pubs should take the place of 'Mayfair' and 'Park Lane'.

In the end it took me nearly 10 years, and a national lockdown, to find the time to convert those scraps of paper and argued conversations into this website, in which time many of the venues we had discussed had unfortunately closed. It feels like now, when so many other venues are under pressure to remain open due to the pandemic, was the right time to properly collect them all together and make the crawl available to others to enjoy. The hope being that in doing so it may provide additional custom for some of the venues listed.

THIS IS IN NO WAY INTENDED TO BE AN EXCLUSIVE LIST, that would be impossible. There are plenty more places you could get a drink in Maidstone, if its not here then it could be because:
- We considered it more of a "Nightclub" or "Restaurant" than a Pub
- It was just too far out of the town centre (sorry First & Last, Bower Inn etc.)
- Its too recent, remember we started this 10 years ago...
- We ran out of spaces on the board
- We just plain forgot about it, sorry!

The views listed in the descriptions are my own, and the order of the pubs were decided by a Facebook poll, in which I asked participants to rank the pubs in order of preference only. The train stations (and bus station) were decided by choosing the pubs closest geographically (again, its not perfect, but pretty close).

I sincerely hope you enjoy Maidstone Pubopoly, Let me know how you got on, and share your pictures at our Facebook group here
