Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special pay-it-forward celebration of International Mahjong Day. It was a wonderful afternoon of learning, laughter, and friendly competition, made even more memorable by our curated collection of beautiful vintage and handcrafted mahjong sets.
A heartfelt thank you for supporting the Clarion Performing Arts Center through your generosity. Together, we celebrated the rich tradition of mahjong while helping support an important community arts organization. We look forward to seeing you at a future Mahjong with Kim event!

Mahjong or Mah Jongg Lessons with Kim
Mahjong or Mah Jongg Lessons with Kim
All lessons are two hours long and designed for up to four players. If you have more than four participants, additional time may be needed.

Mahjong 101 (Beginner-Friendly Foundations)
Mahjong 101 (Beginner-Friendly Foundations)
A gentle, beginner-focused introduction to Mahjong covering tile recognition, basic game flow, building walls, drawing and discarding, and forming simple winning hands. Scoring is kept light so players can focus on understanding the structure of the game and gaining confidence. If time allows, we’ll briefly introduce basic scoring concepts. Players may also choose to learn Hong Kong Pung Kong Mahjong, easiest to pick up and play!
While most American Mah Jongg students benefit from multiple lessons, a three-hour crash course is available for those who prefer to learn the fundamentals in a single session.
Introduction to Mahjong
A more in-depth session that covers the basic rules, scoring system, and gameplay structure. Perfect for those who want to start playing regularly or join Mahjong groups.
Mahjong Party
Already know how to play? Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned player, this option brings an expert to your table to answer questions, discuss strategy, and keep the game flowing.
