About Kim

I grew up in Hong Kong in the 1970s, where I learned Mahjong from my mom. Some of my fondest memories are of playing all day during #8 typhoons when school was canceled! During the pandemic, I began teaching family and friends how to play—and discovered a new passion for sharing the game with others.

Before becoming a Mahjong teacher, I spent 30 years in luxury retail management in San Francisco’s Union Square, perfecting the art of customer experience. Now, I’ve combined that with my lifelong love of Mahjong to create fun, welcoming, and culturally rich learning experiences.

You can also find me volunteering at the Chinatown YMCA for Mahjong Mondays, helping the community connect through this timeless game.

When I’m not playing Mahjong, I love golfing with the Presidio Women’s Golf Club, cooking, and shopping daily in Chinatown and at local farmers markets.
