Stay tuned for news on the next Tribal Marmalade.

What is Tribal Marmalade, you may ask? It is what it says on the label. A Tribal Jam with a difference!

In this two hour event, we will start with a guided warm up to wake up our muscles and mind after a busy week at work. This will be followed by a short FCBD® Dancing In Flow® session, allowing us to empty our minds of chatter, inhabit our bodies and become one with the music. Please note, we ask for no talking during the flow session, so that participants can ease into a meditative state. Finally, we finish with a Tribal Jam / Boogie / Disco / Whatever you want to call it. We will begin by dancing as a single group, using simple ATS® moves, followed by freestyle dancing, in groups or solo, using whatever style you like.

We recommend this Jam as an opportunity for  FCBD® dancers to spend time dancing together in formation, but would like to remind you that this is a dance session, not a class, and that you may end up dancing with people of different abilities. Please be respectful of your fellow dancers – don’t hog the lead (you are more than welcome to dance solo if you want to use the time to concentrate on your own technique and musicality); laugh off and forgive any mistakes; try to give clear cues; let the music speak through you, rather than drilling moves; if you wish to change groups, please do so at an appropriate time (i.e. don’t just wander out of a trio or quartet if you are in the duet position).

If you don't have much FCBD® experience and are worried about keeping up with the flow, fear not. The flow session will be guided by two leaders - one leading basic moves and the other leading more advanced moves for more experienced dancers. The emphasis is on flowing with the music, rather than executing a move perfectly, so don't worry about making mistakes. And if you suddenly find yourself at the back of the room during a turning move you don't know how to do, with nobody to follow (unlikely, if all goes according to plan) - simply relax and turn back to the front :-)
