Fat Chance Bellydance FCBD® Style is a group improvisational dance. We use a standardised dance “vocabulary” and formations to co-create a dance as a team, using non-verbal cues. The dance style was created by Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman, founder of FatChanceBellydance®, and you can read more about the history of the dance at the FatChanceBellydance® website.
FCBD® Style used to be known as American Tribal Style or ATS®.
Mahina started her FCBD® training in 2011, under the tutelage of Dud Muurmaand and Lisa Bügel Jørgensen in Copenhagen, where she was a member of Sakura Tribal Troupe. In 2014 she moved to Edinburgh where she continued to train with Susan Tonner along with attending workshops and intensives with Kae Montgomery and Devi Mamak. In 2016 she attended ATS® General Skills Classic & Modern, and ATS® Teacher Training to become a certified ATS® teacher.
