Mahina is a Tribal Bellydancer specialising in FCBD® Style. She fell in love with dancing after learning traditional Hula during a volunteer placement on Hawai’i in 2000. She started to learn traditional bellydance around 2002 and has been focussing on FCBD® and Tribal Fusion since 2011. She is a certified FCBD® Style Teacher and FCBD® Sister Studio, and performs both FCBD® Style and Transcultural Fusion, (and occasionally Egyptian style). She also plays the Darbuka and Frame Drum (albeit with rusty fingers nowadays).

As a member of the Danish dance troupes Sakura Tribal Troupe (FCBD® Style)  and Oriental Dance ‘N’ Drums she was a regular performer at Copenhagen’s cultural events from 2012-2014. After moving to Edinburgh she danced FCBD® Style with the troupe Twisted Tails, and her dance partner Caroline, as The Sassenachs, and founded the international Tribal Fusion troupe Tribal Rocks. After a few years in Oxford, where the pandemic stopped her dance classes, she is back in Scotland, in NE Aberdeenshire, regularly teaching FCBD® Style, and occasionally teaching Transcultural Bellydance - classes focussing on technique and exploring how different postures and expressions can change the style of a single move.

As a FCBD® Style dancer, Mahina celebrates the universality of the dance form and is committed to promoting the purity and precision of  FCBD® Style. As a Transcultural Fusion dancer, she is known for bringing “oomph” to the stage and enjoys bringing drama and storytelling to her dance and building on the FCBD® roots of the Transcultural Fusion Style.
