The Food safety and standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a legal authority that offers a food license to all food business operators (FBO) in India
FSSAI registration guarantees the security of food products and it is essentially a food safety certificate circulated by the food authority in India.
FSSAI registration is unavoidable.
FSSAI license is different from FSSAI registration in the sense that depending on nature of business
It is a 14-digit numeric registration or a license number that is printed on all the food packages.
FSSAI, however, issues three different types of FSSAI food license which are:
Central license
State license

Document required for FSSAI registration are as follows:
Aadhar card, pan card ,bank passbook, shop firm registration name, photo, mobile number and email ID
Photo ID the food business operator
Ration card, department issued ID,passport, senior citizen card,driving license, voter ID
Supporting documents such as No objection Certificate by Municipality/panchayat,health NOC.
Authority letter
Copy of the rent agreement ( if rented)
License or plan of the food safety management system
Form 10 for the designation of persons by a company with the board resolution.
FSSAI basic license have annual turnover below Rs 12 lakhs
Document required for state FSSAI License
FASSI state license obtained by mid-sized companies which have an annual turnover between Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 20 crores
Duly completed and signed Form-B ( in duplicate) by the proprietor or partner or authorized signatory.
Processing unit blueprint/layout plan showing dimensions in meters / square meters and operation-wise area allocation. This is mandatory for manufacturing and processing units only.
Full address and contact details of director/partners/executive Members of society/Trust.
Equipment and machinery name and list along with number, installed capacity and horsepower used. This mandatory for processing and manufacturing units only
Government Authority issued Identity and Address/partner/Director (S)/Authorized signatory.
Authority letter which includes the name and Address, responsible person nominated by the manufacturer along with alternative responsible
List of food category to be manufactured
Analysis report of water to be used in the process to confirm the portability
Proof of possession of premises
Partnership deed/ affidavit of proprietorship
NOC and copy of license from the manufacturer
Copy of certificate obtained under coop Act 1861/multi state Coop Act 2002
Food safety management system plan or certificate
Document required for obtaining the central license:
Large businesses which have an annual turnover above Rs 20 crores are required to obtain the FSSAI central license.
Form B duly completed and signed
Plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions and operation-wise area allocation
List of director/partners/proprietor with address,contact details ,and photo ID
Name and list of equipment and machinery used with the number and installed capacity
List of food category to be manufactured
Authority letter from manufacturer nominated a responsible person name and Address
Analysis report of water to be used in the process to confirm the portability
Source of raw material for milk,meat etc
Recall plan wherever applicable

Renewal of FSSAI License
The license is issued for a validity of 1 year or 5 years so the business must apply for renewal 30 days prior to the expiry of current license
