For those looking for the highest level accomodation, I recommend Hotel Divinus, the only 5 star hotel in Debrecen: http://www.hoteldivinus.hu/eng/aszalloda/index.htm
For a more reasonably priced accomodation, the best choice is probably Campus Hotel (3 stars): http://www.campushotel.hu/index.en.php
Also, for a cheaper accomodation, rooms are available at university dormitories. Apart from the low price, another advantage is that you won't need any kind of transportation to get to the tournament venue - you can just take a short, refreshing walk within the campus each morning. However, I need to notify the dormitory staff beforehand about the number of people who intend to stay there, so in case you'd like to stay at the dormitory, let me know in your pre-registration e-mail by 11th June. The information you need to specify is the following:
- which dormitory you'll be staying at
- in what kind of room (single, double or triple)
- date of arrival and leaving the dormitory
- whether or not you also need breakfast (in case of Lajos Kossuth Dormitory)
The available dormitories are:
Lajos Markusovszky Dormitory (3rd Building):
A decent dormitory at a walking distance of about 8 minutes from the tournament venue. Prices are:
Single room: 4800 HUF / night*
Room with 2 or 3 beds: 3300 HUF / person / night*
Lajos Kossuth Dormitory:
A high-standard dormitory at a 3 minutes' walking distance from the venue. (Single rooms are pretty close to hotel standards.) It also offers a free parking space for those coming by car. Pricing:
Single room: 7200 HUF / night*
Room with 2 beds: 4400 HUF / person / night*
Breakfast: 1150 HUF / person / day
In case you're staying for 3 nights (e.g. Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the tournament weekend), Lajos Kossuth Dormitory offers a discount as follows:
Single room: 16800 HUF / 3 nights
Room with 2 beds: 10200 HUF / person / 3 nights
Room with 3 beds: 7400 HUF / person / 3 nights
Please note that the discount only applies for 3 nights*. You'll have to pay standard prices for any additional nights.
* Some of the prices have changed. In Lajos Kossuth Dormitory, they offered us a group discount, due to the large number of participants who chose them for accomodation. Group discount affects additional nights, but not the original 3-night discount. (Also, I didn't know that the 3-night discount applies only for the first 3 nights, not 6 or 9 nights.) Meanwhile, in Lajos Markusovszky Dormitory, the staff forgot to add "tourism tax" to the prices when I first discussed accomodation options with them. So prices in Lajos Markusovszky Dormitory were raised by 300 HUF/person/night.
