What is this Project?

The Long-Term Intensive Language Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad program at NIU entitled “The Philippines Coffee and Carabao Culture and Language: Tagalog Language Immersion in Northern and Southern Rural Philippines” is an eight-week intensive language program in two Universities in the Philippines, Cavite State University (CavSU), the Coffee Research Center of the Philippines located South of Manila, and Central Luzon State University (CLSU), the Carabao Research Center located North of Manila.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF GPA PROGRAM

The Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad (GPA) program is designed to contribute to the development and improvement of the study of modern foreign languages and area studies in the United States by providing training opportunities for faculty, teachers, and upperclassmen and/or graduate students in foreign countries where the United States has diplomatic representation. Awards are made under the program to conduct overseas group projects in research, training and curriculum development. (GPA Handbook)
