Perspective 3: Human Traffickers

As the demand for the commodity of humans is high, the suppliers are much needed as well. Thus, dozens of people go into trafficking hoping to earn some quick cash. Traffickers and trafficking business owners are the ones who essentially provide the demand for the commodity of humans on the black market. The last and most important perspective is the trafficker’s or the business owner’s perspective. Traffickers and business owner generally believe in the idea of making a high profit while having low potential risk. Therefore, human trafficking is a perfect way to do that as it is the second largest criminal industry next to the drug trade.

With 7 billion people on the planet, a human is easy to replace and the business keeps growing. That is why “The International Labor Organization estimates that profits from human trafficking and forced labor are $150 billion annually.”(“What Fuels Human Trafficking?”) The quote indicates why traffickers traffic and why business owners consent trafficking; It is because trafficking makes a ton of money each year.

Also, the trafficking business is a “low-risk-high profit reality that, unlike drugs, can be sold repeatedly”. The money is not the only reasons traffickers traffic; the other reason is because how low-risk the business is compared to other ones like the drug trade.

In an interview with a human trafficker, the trafficker said that he “trafficked women and girls, for extra money.”(“Interviews with Human Traffickers: Perceptions of Sex and Violence”) Also, when the girls tried to escape "It gets back to the girls’ families and they(traffickers) go back and threaten to kill their family.” This shows at what lengths traffickers go to just to earn some money, and thus indicates their perspective of why human trafficking should be justified.

Films like these can comment upon the perspective traffickers and trafficking victims. They give an insight to people who lack an understanding in this global epidemic.
