Samsung HMD Odyssey

Introduction

After testing the Acer WMR ( windows mixed reality , but it's just a VR headset , confusing name ), we received at work, I was quite impressed of the improvement from the O.R. and Vive, that I have also tested at work.

I chose the Samsung WMR because it solves all the problem from the Acer :

• IPD adjustable ( Inter Pupillary Distance )
• AMOLED displays instead of LCD : better contrast and luminosity and less SDE ( Screen Door Effect )
• Better resolution, 1440x1600 per eye instead of 1440x1440. Better clarity and even less SDE
• Integrated AKG headphones, no extra audio cable to run from the headset to the PC.

I try to extend the cables, right now I got a UGreen HMDI 2m cable extender that works great. For extending USB 3.0 it is more tricking. I try a normal UGreen Usb 3.0 3m cable extender, but the headset erratically disconnect. I tried a no-brand chinese active Usb 3.0 5m cable, but I think it's a scam and it's not working.

After some research online, I ordered a MonoPrice one, that seems to work with OR and Vive.
