Ricmo Tech Momo Mod31

Introduction

I chose this rim because it was the best value for a 320mm suede rim with a wheel button box and paddles. And it comes with a real Momo Mod31. ( when I checked, because I found a better one after )

The rim come with and adapter to install on the standard 6 x 70mm layout. This adapter quality is not as good as I expected. Also the 3 go-through screws to attach the rim to this adapter plate are a bit too short to my taste, 3 more mm would have looked safer.

Appart from that, the rim is very confortable and light. The button box worked perfectly and the paddles feels nice.

I still think it's overpriced, if you compare to the one from SimLab : SRC CUP that has more buttons, 2 rotary buttons, 2 magnetic paddles , similar suede rim, and a carbon finish for 400 US$ when the Mod31 cost 570 US$.

Sadly for me I discovered it after I ordered the Mod31 and also the shipping is very expensive from EU to Singapore.

I will install the rim on the motor with a quick release, so I will be still able to fold the seat correctly. I chose a Leadrise Quick Release, as it have good reviews and it is quite cheap.

The QR is easy to install. The bolts provided are too short for my system, and I didn't had proper hexagonal head ones. So I put those temporarily.

The QR is easy to remove and put back. I didn't tried it yet in a race to check there's not play. But from what I saw so far, it seems there's no play at all between the 2 parts.

After several race, the QR already as some play / backlash. So I think it's not a good QR :(

I ordered an NRG one, that really look like a D1-Spec V2, which I know is a good brand.

I received the QR, the packaging and the quality in general is quite a big step over the leadrise

Compared to the LeadRise the NRG metal looks way better quality for a start. Aslo there's 6+4 ball bearing compared to 4+3 for the LeadRise, which make me think that the QR will be way more tight than the LeadRise. Also it looks way better on the cockpit.

I like that there's some logo, to now where the wheel is centered. Also, the ring stays open when the wheel is detached which make it way easier to put back in place.

After several races I will be able to compare with the LeadRise for the final quality, see if it get some play / backlash or not. With the Leadrise after only 2 races with big FFB it already get some play / backlash.
