Eeffectively developing curriculum and plan instruction utilizing state and national standards that critically examine the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline to make learning successful for students.
I completed this assignment in CI 632. I believe that this assignment shows that indicator 1 has been understood throughout my master's program. In this assignment, I had to create and plan an instructional lesson based around the West Virginia State Standards for preschool education. The lesson in this assignment was based on self-portraits and gaining an understanding of self. It used central concepts such as using real life elements while also allowing children to be creative and express themselves. This projects also allowed collaboration and conversation throughout their self portraits.
Knowledge and skill in implementing instruction that appraises differences in learning, creates instructional opportunities adapted to diverse learners and equips students with 21st century learning skills.
I completed this assignment in CI 634. In this assignment, I focused on how the social and cultural world of today has helped shape how and what children need to learn in the 21st century. These skills are technology, problem solving, social interactions, building emotional connections, interacting with peers, sympathy, and empathy. All children do not come from the same background which means all children are diverse in where they come from and what they experience. Because of this, it is important to use these diverse backgrounds in the classroom when creating and executing lessons which can focus on the differences that we all have.
Examine and implement a variety of formative and summative assessments of learners and support continuous intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of students.
I completed this assignment in EDF 612. In this assignment, I focused on three major categories of assessments which are commonly done with children of a young age. These three categories are evaluation assessments, testing, measurements. The indicator of this goal focuses on the first major category of evaluation assessment. These are shown in ways such as observations, rating skills, physical tests, essays, or self evaluations. The formative assessments are the ones completed during instruction, such as observations, progress rating scales, or self evaluations. The summative assessments can be seen in the form of tests or essays as a way to determine how much information the child has retained.
