This assignment was from EDF 513 here at Marshall University. For this assignment, we were to use our knowledge of childhood development in order to explore a child's physical, cognitive, linguistic, social, and emotional development of a child we observed in a clinical setting. We were to interact and plan activities for the child and use those activities in order to observe and reflect on what development can be seen through those activities and throughout the daily interactions of the child.
Develop Strategies to Support Learners with Special Needs Within the Least Restrictive Environment
This assignment was from CISP 445. For this assignment, we were to reflect on our experiences in a special education classroom and explain why we though special education settings and least restrictive environments were important at this age. In my rationale, I explained that in my experiences in the special education classroom, having children in the least restrictive environment helps their overall development when it comes to social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development. I also discuss my classroom at the time where I was teaching children with special needs in a least restrictive environment and how being in this environment has helped them and different ways to support them.
Address the Needs of Diverse Learners in Terms of Culture, Race, Gender, Color, and Language
This assignment was from CI 559. In this assignment, I was able to discuss different ways to help support children of different cultures, race, gender, colors, and language. The main point I made in this paper was the importance that all children need to be empowered. Regardless of situation, children need to feel like there is someone cheering them on and is there supporting them. While different children of different backgrounds need different support systems, the main connection between those support systems is that there is someone supporting them through that process and that they never feel as if they are alone or feel as if they are struggling and no one is there to support them.
