Hello friends! My name is Fatima Pineda (She/Her/Hers/Ella) and I'm so excited to be one of three school counselors at Madison Elementary! It has been my DREAM to be an Elementary School Counselor. Let's make it a WONDERFUL year!

I attended Irvine Valley Community College and then transferred to the University of California, Irvine (#zotzotzot) where I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Bachelors of Arts in Education Sciences. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential and emphasis as a Professional Clinical Counselor from Chapman University (Go Panthers!).

Asistí al colegio comunitario de Irvine Valley y luego me transferí a la Universidad de California, Irvine (#zotzotzot), donde obtuve mi Licenciatura en Psicología y la Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación. Recibí mi Maestría en Consejería con una Credencial de Servicios de Personal para Alumnos y énfasis como Consejera Clínica Profesional de la Universidad de Chapman (¡Go Panthers!).

Previous experience: / Experiencia previa:

While I was at Chapman, I worked in Capistrano Unified School District at Palisades Elementary, Concordia Elementary, R.H. Dana Elementary, and San Clemente High School. For my Professional Clinical Counseling hours, I worked with the Compass Center in Huntington Beach, CA, providing mental health support to students in Fountain Valley High School, Peterson Elementary, Ocean View Virtual Academy, and Fountain Valley Connected. In addition, I used to work at Disneyland and as a reading tutor at Heninger Elementary.

Mientras estaba en Chapman, trabajé en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Capistrano en las escuelas primarias Palisades, Concordia, R.H. Dana y escuela secundaria de San Clemente. Durante mis horas de Consejería Clínica Profesional, trabajé con el Compass Center en Huntington Beach, CA, brindando apoyo de salud mental a los estudiantes de la escuela secundaria Fountain Valley, primaria Peterson, Ocean View Virtual Academy y Fountain Valley Connected. Además, trabaje en Disneyland y como tutor de lectura en la primaria Heninger.

In my free time, I love to make/eat food, play with my dogs (Fry & Honey Mango) and my cats (Gogi & Gnocchi), spend my time at Target looking at cute office supplies, and go to coffee shops.

En mi tiempo libre, me encanta hacer/comer comida, jugar con mi perrita (Honey Mango) y mi gatita (Gnocchi), pasar mi tiempo en Target mirando lindos útiles de oficina e ir a tiendas de cafe.

What is your why? / ¿Cuál es tu por qué?

I chose the path to become a school counselor because I am passionate about helping others reach their goals, providing equitable access to mental health supports, and creating a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space for all students. As a first-generation, Latinx woman, I want to ensure that ALL students have the proper resources to be successful and thrive.

Elegí el camino para convertirme en consejera escolar porque me apasiona ayudar a otros a alcanzar sus metas, brindar acceso equitativo a apoyos de salud mental y crear un espacio seguro, acogedor y sin prejuicios para todos los estudiantes. Como mujer latina de primera generación, quiero asegurarme de que TODOS los estudiantes tengan los recursos adecuados para tener éxito y prosperar.
