Being a lifeguard is all about ensuring people can enjoy the water safely. It requires constant focus, sharp awareness, and the readiness to act quickly if something goes wrong. But it's not just about responding to emergencies, it's also about maintaining a calm, welcoming environment by enforcing rules and offering guidance. It can be challenging, but there's real fulfillment in knowing I'm there to protect and support others.
In addition to lifeguarding, I work as a swim instructor, teaching children from as young as six months to twelve years old. Guiding them as they explore the water, something that’s been such a meaningful part of my own life, brings me genuine joy. My goal is to help the next generation feel confident, safe, and at ease in the water, whether they’re learning to swim or simply enjoying it.
Taking on the responsibility of managing the pool has helped me grow more confident in myself. Being in a position where I have to answer questions on the spot and lead with authority has pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way. It’s taught me the importance of clear communication, quick thinking, and self-assurance.
Swimming has always held a special place in my heart. It's more than just a sport, it's something I genuinely look forward to, a way to clear my mind and release stress when life feels overwhelming. I've been a part of my school’s swim team for three semesters, though my journey in the water began much earlier. I started competitive swimming at age 10, beginning with the basic 50-yard events and gradually working my way up to the mile. Freestyle and backstroke have been my constant companions, helping me navigate both the pool and life itself. I hope they continue to keep me afloat for many years to come.
Creating has been a passion of mine since I was young, something that has always come naturally to me. Through art, I want to inspire future generations to believe in their ability to shape their own paths and express themselves freely. Art allows me not only to bring beauty into the world but also to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our planet. Whether it's through visual arts, literature, music, or other creative forms, art continues to drive me forward. It motivates me to keep going and fuels the inspiration behind my own designs.
This was a 4 week summer program in Lugano, Switzerland where I learned the fundamentals of Architecture. Here I am showing my final project with this program where I had to build a mini model of a house.
A 2 week program on UM's campus where I studied architecture and engineering. I did a case study where I had to "build" a LEED certified hospital.
This 4 week program with the the CED at Berkeley was an insightful program, showing what a semester would look like for a college student. The summer was spent planing how to take abstractions from real life objects and create a new building based off of the object and the surronding area. We also worked on drafting skills on Rino and Adobe products.
