While working the cash register at the cafe, he met Nimh, a fellow photography enthusiast. Took Ira a while to figure out they had been dating. He had to directly ask after one of their many late night conversations over coffee. Ever the teacher, he learned a lot from Nimh, including about Polyamory. He gave her the nickname "Big Bad" due to her being a lot braver and bold than he is.

Penni is the owner of the Bunny Burrow and Brew, the cafe he works in. After a big event at the cafe, Ira stayed behind to help Penni clean up. They get a chance to talk, and he gets to know more about her and why she decided to open the Bunny Burrow and Brew. Ira realizes she’s full of ambition and drive. He starts to feel something more but does his best to suppress the thought since she is his boss.

As always with his initial interactions, Ira kept Benny at arm's length. After a number of conversations, Ira grew to trust Beni and now considers him one of his closest friends.
