.24HRS explores how performances differ in various hours of the day. The compilation of shows run in the early hours of the morning, the afternoon, and the late hours of the night, offering audiences the ability to come and go during any performance as they please. Performances switch between solo pieces and duo pieces, all with separate environments, lighting elements, and varying personalities portrayed.

24HRS is, unlike previous works, not a big collaboration piece. Instead, individuals can choose to perform solo or in duos on whatever topic they choose to do.
Stephen and I decided on a mock-up of what the internet calls "sludge content", which is mostly a video clip of a bigger video found on video streaming platforms (i.e. YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, etc.), but split into two screens. One of these screens is, of course, the video clip itself, but the other half is typically the gameplay of a video game. This is done to grab the attention of watchers as their attention spans are low. Therefore, the gameplay can allow the watchers to maintain their attention on the other video with a message and of actual usage.
We found some games that are typically used to maintain attention, namely Subway Surfers, Clash Royale, and Minecraft. We made a video projection to simulate a scrolling action through these clips, with the actual useful footage being performed by Stephen and me. The goal was to take a virtual element and put it into real life, and we maintained that effect quite well, as the audience was engaged and having fun.

What is it like to be on the cusp of performance? The students of Co-Lab explore this concept by employing an exhibition/gallery style performance where the audience can come and go, happen upon the performance midway through, or not at all. To feel what it is like to create for—and perform multiple times a day, at ‘untraditional’ hours, to a full lobby or when no one is watching.
