I co-hosted and organized a 9-episode webinar series highlighting various USDA agencies. Each episode featured a different agency, with a diverse range of representatives discussing career opportunities across fields such as forestry, climate science, and beyond. This series provided valuable insights into the wide array of career paths within both the USDA and BLM, offering participants the chance to engage with agency representatives, learn about their experiences, and have their questions answered. This experience strengthened my professional development by requiring extensive outreach to representatives and honed my creative skills through the design of visually engaging flyers and the creation of a dedicated website to host the series.
Bison restoration is increasingly becoming a point of focus across the West, however fence designs for bison enclosures have generally not been wildlife friendly because the conventional wisdom is that bison are harder to contain than cattle. Effectively holding bison is of particular importance in order to assuage concerns of infrastructural damage and competition with cattle should bison escape. This study aimed to measure the success of bison fencing and of wildlife friendly bison fence (WFBF) designs. American Prairie in Montana designed a WFBF to hold bison. They tested the effectiveness of the fence design on holding bison. These fencing changes have had significant beneficial wildlife effects across a landscape of hundreds of thousands of hectares that are considered some of the most important in Montana for wildlife connectivity.
