Lyndsey Peterson is a Maryland-based English and Theater educator as well as the current director for the Brunswick High drama department. She has been working for Frederick County Public Schools since 2016 teaching honors and merit level English courses as well as introductory and advanced theater courses at Brunswick High School. Her specialties include World Literature, Acting, and Technical Theater. She has extensively studied and taught Shakespeare texts and works from the Medieval and Middle Ages.
Lyndsey has been teaching Theater and running the school's drama department since 2018. She has worked tirelessly to keep the program at BHS alive even during the COVID pandemic by implementing strong digital organization systems and clear communication with students and parents. She produced and directed over 10 productions including 2 virtual shows during 2020 and 2021, despite online and hybrid learning. The BHStage drama club is the second largest club at the school and is growing exponentially through outreach programs and fundraisers in the community as well as leadership opportunities she personally developed and curated for the students to take owenership of their own program. Prior to taking over as director, she Assistant directed under the leadership of Thomas Graff and helped specifically with choreography and lighting. Her assisting director credits include The Matchmaker, The Sound of Music, The Little Mermaid, and It's a Wonderful Life. She still enjoys dancing and using her extensive knowledge of dance to continue choreographing musical productions.
Growing up in Bucks County, PA, Lyndsey has over 15+ years of performance experience including training at Babylon School of Dance in Chalfont, PA and acting training at Theater Arts Center of Doylestown. She also has a love of music and has years of chorale singing experience at the collegiate level and she plays 3 instruments (piano, guitar, and clarinet). She even sings with the Choral Arts Society of Frederick. Her love of performing since childhood has given her the chance to work with the students in Frederick County Public Schools to develop their own talents and explore their own passion for the arts.
Lyndsey holds an B.A in English Literature with a Secondary Education certification from Lycoming College (Williamsport, PA) and an M.A in Theatre from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA). She is currently a certified teacher in grades 9-12 in English and Theater.
