A few years ago I became concerned in regards to the direction our school system was heading. I did not recognize Johnston County Public Schools as the system that I had spent over 30 years serving.

I feel strongly that in these recent years, our school system lost our focus on academic achievement, and our district test scores reflected this lapse in focus.  I also continue to be concerned about our budget situation.  I also have concerns about the schools system’s initiatives to prepare students not only for college, but for the workforce.  We also must continue to address the diversity within our district. 

It was with these concerns that I decided to run for the Board of Education.

I feel strongly that my passion for students and staff, along with my experience and my knowledge will be of benefit to the Board of Education.
