I grew up in Smithfield, and I am the daughter of the late Dr. & Mrs. Stratton R. Story.
I have over 30 years of experience working in Johnston County Public Schools. I have served as a teacher, coach, administrator and retired in 2010 as the Director of the Exceptional Children Program. I currently serve as an Adjunct Professor at Campbell University, working with future teachers. I am a graduate of Smithfield-Selma High School, Peace College and Appalachian State University. I hold a Masters of Education degree from East Carolina University. I also have a Masters in School Administration from North Carolina State University.
I am a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Smithfield.
I have also served as the Teaching Leader of Bible Study Fellowship in Johnston County.
I currently serve as adjunct Professor and University Supervisor - Campbell University in the Education Department.
I have been married to Don Andrews for 43 years, and we have two sons – Will and Taylor Andrews
We have five beautiful grandchildren - Mason, Maxton, Marin, Mia and Maverick Andrews.
I have a sincere desire to serve this school system as a member of your Board of Education.
I feel strongly that my experience and knowledge would enhance my ability to ask relevant questions and make informed decisions. I have worked with each area in our school system, and therefore - I can see the big picture.
In my work, I have experience with – the budget in the Exceptional Children Program.($25 million) I understand federal, state and local funding I have no problem voting no for unnecessary spending and unbalanced budgets.
I am trained in the legal issues of public education. I understand the support that teachers need.
My work has always been and will continue to be defined by my commitment to serve our entire school system. That means every area of our county. That is what I have done my entire career.
We will move forward! We will be better than we have ever been before. Do not think otherwise.
But this is going to take hard working, committed members of the Board. It will take individuals with a common vision and purpose. It cannot be accomplished by individuals who are satisfied with what has taken place.
A member of the Board of Education is a servant Leader –
The aim of a servant leader is to work hard - so that others can experience life’s greatest purpose.
This is what I want for our students – and in that the citizens of Johnston County.
Four seats are available for this election. I just want one of them.
If you want someone who will be open-minded, who will work hard – who will be student centered and student- focused. And who will take what I know and learn a great deal more – to serve this district -
Someone you can trust to do what is right.
