I spent my entire career working in Johnston County Public Schools.  I have served as a teacher, coach and administrator in our district.  In 2010, I retired as the Director of Exceptional Children Programs.  Within the responsibilities of this job, I helped to manage a budget of $25 million. I also worked with every facet of our school system. (i.e. Transportation, Child Nutrition, Testing and Accountability, Human Resources, Curriculum and Instruction, Student Services and Facility Services).  I am trained in the legal issues of public education.  I have extensive insight into all of these different departments.  I am also knowledgeable of curriculum and the supports that must be in place for teachers to enhance the learning of our students.  I am knowledgeable of the legal issues in public education.  I have worked with all grade levels within the school system.

I have a deep passion for all children, and I feel strongly that our school system must make decisions that are student-focused and student-centered.
