Kelvin's
Casper
5 MAY 2020 - PRESENT (WALKS)15 JUNE 2020 - 18 JUNE 2020
Casper was love at first sight. He is a big pup with a puppy face that will promise to melt your heart. I know I get excited when I see dogs, but the moment I saw Casper I was like ❤️ ❤️ ❤️. Casper has a special place in my heart, he was rescued by Kelvin on my birthday. He had been roaming around the neighbourhood for weeks since the MCO was implemented and was being fed by kind souls around the community.
Due to his rough past, it was a challenge to get Casper to trust a new stranger to take him on walks. The first few days, he wouldn't even allow me to pet him, always dodging away like my love was his enemy. During his walks, he would often stop and sit his bum down, adamant on not budging another inch. It's all about learning boundaries and receiving consent with Casper.
It's our third week walking now and Casper has shown some signs of warming up to me. Getting him out of the gate doesn't take treat bribes anymore and we're all hoping it isn't a lucky streak. He even lets me pet him throughout my visit which I love to do so much!
The car ride was thankfully flawless seeing as Casper had an unfavourable experience the last time he had a ride to the vet. He knew to lie down most of the trip but was rather clumsy during our departure and arrival.
Casper being effortlessly photogenic as usual.
Our dynamic has surprisingly turned better from his first day boarding away from home. I could never get Casper to listen to "Sit" commands, even if I had a treat or his meal waiting for him. Now he listens when I tell him to come over too. It was the first time I heard Casper barking at my arrival as well which he hasn't held back since each time he sees me come through the front door or when I return home through the gate.
