Mission Statement:
The mission of the California State PTA is to positively impact the lives of all children and families.
Become a Member:
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a registered non-profit organization that prides itself on being a powerful voice for children, a relevant resource for parents and a strong advocate for public education. It's also a forum for parents to obtain knowledge, stay informed and voice their opinions about what is happening at their school.
Membership in the PTA is open, and encouraged, to anyone who wants to join to help support our school. ALL are invited to join; parents, grandparents, students, aunts, uncles, etc. Our PTA is made up of anyone who joins and pays the dues. There is no age minimum or special requirements to be a member. Members DON'T have to volunteer time or attend any meetings. By becoming a PTA Member and paying the dues: you are granted full voting rights if you choose to attend any of our Association Meetings, you allow the PTA to operate at our school and you help provide needed funds since a portion of every membership stays with our unit. PTA Membership must be renewed every school year.
The PTA Membership Drive runs from the beginning of the school year through September. Please encourage everyone to join. PTA's schoolwide goal is 260 memberships. It is ONLY $10.00 a year to become a member (plus a dollar for the online processing fees).

How PTA is Organized/Structured
PTA is structured starting at the unit level (LVH PTA), all the way up to a national level within the USA (National PTA)
Our unit is guided by local-level Councils of PTA (Bonita Council) & geographic District PTAs within CA (1st District PTA)
Our PTA is organized & chartered in conformity with rules & regulations prescribed by the California State PTA (CAPTA) that we MUST strictly follow at all times in order to stay in compliance & continue our existence as a PTA
We have a set of unit Bylaws we must follow & IRS regulations/rules we must abide by as a nonprofit organization
Our Association is made up PTA Members, which is anyone who signs up/pays for PTA Membership for the school year
The Association is the voting body for all action taken including: adopting bylaws, adopting the yearly programs/plans & budget, electing the nominating committee, electing officers & approving contracts/expenditures/recommendations
Our PTA has FOUR Association Meetings per school year to conduct the required business of our PTA
Our Executive Board meets monthly to handle the transaction of necessary & detailed business between Association Meetings to keep our PTA running properly & carrying on needed work throughout the school year
Our Executive Board is made up of the Officers of the Association, Standing Committee Chairpersons, a Teacher Representative & the School Principal
The Officers of our Association are elected by our PTA Association every school year, except for the Parliamentarian, who is appointed by the PTA President & ratified by the Executive Board (a Nominating Committee is elected, creates a Slate of Nominees for the upcoming year & an election is held at our Founders' Day Celebration Association Meeting)
The School Principal & Teacher Representative are non-appointed/non-elected positions on the Executive Board that serve in an advisory capacity, but have full voting privileges on the board
The PTA President appoints Committee Chairs/Coordinators, ratified by our board, to oversee running events/activities (Standing Committee Chairs serve on the Executive Board including Volunteers)
Multiple Executive Board positions require serving as a Special Committee Chairpersons, as part of their position
Committee Chairs use committee members & general volunteers to help run their specific overseen activities/events
The PTA Volunteer Interest Form is sent out at the start of each school year, additional requests are sent as needed & chairs/board members make recommendations to help gather committee members & general volunteers each year
PTA functions solely through the use of VOLUNTEERS; including our Leadership Team (there aren't any paid positions)
We work closely with the LVH Principal/Teachers/Staff to run, monitor & update our yearly plans
