About Lené
I live in the Cape Winelands, just an hour drive from Cape Town. The Cape Town area is renowned as a spectacular tourist destination and a burgeoning technology hub in Africa.
Hailing from a family of engineers and scientists meant I grew up reading Popular Mechanics and National Geographic at bedtime. I enjoyed the art of technical storytelling, and from a young age I liked explaining things to my younger siblings in creative ways. I always look for projects that let me marry my passion for sharing knowledge with technology.
Over a decade of working in the higher education and software sectors, I’ve built a strong instructional design and technical writing skill set. My drive to work independently and solve problems in innovative ways has stood me in good stead, often leading to internal promotions.
I'm currently a data analyst for a fintech company where I work as part of a cross-functional team to help deliver data driven insights. My writing these days is less about instructions, and more about the story the data I analyse tells. At least, when I'm not writing instructions for the computer, that is ;)
I've recently completed a BSc in Computer Science and am interested in ML research. When I'm not working or studying, I enjoy hiking with my dogs, snorkelling, or doing any number of creative craft projects.
