For our Friendship Park street murals, we invite you to submit drawings that depict the leaves of the trees in the park, local native flowers, and the birds and butterflies you might see in the park or neighborhood. We may use your drawings in our street art design or in an online guide to the Park. Thanks for your participation!
Please follow these guidelines:
Draw up to 5 elements listed below (leaf, flower, bird, butterfly) on an 8.5” x 11” page.
Keep your drawings simple without a lot of details. An outline, as you might see in a coloring book, is ideal for our purposes. For example, you could take an actual leaf from the park and outline it, or print a photo of a bird, flower, or butterfly from the internet (or check out a Pennsylvania bird, flower or insect guide from the library) and trace the image using tracing paper.
If you want to add color to your drawing, please take two photos/scans—one without and one with color.
Take a photo of your finished drawing in good lighting, preferably outside in indirect sunlight. Place your drawing on the ground or a table and then take the photo from above. Alternatively, you can use a scanner or the ScannerPro app, which is free.
Use the submission form here to submit your drawing.

This is a great resource for what to draw and what to plant in your garden. Please choose plants that have distinct petals and are easy to draw so they will be easy to paint for our asphalt mural! If flowers appear in clusters, draw one or two of the individual flowers, such as an aster or indigo.
