My one-to-one work combines storytelling with my training as a Quietude® practitioner, offering spiritual support and soul companionship to those on the journey towards death and dying. Listening is at the heart of this practice, to understand what the individual needs on a practical, emotional and spiritual level, and to hold space for those approaching death to tell their stories.
As a Quietude® practitioner working one-to-one or with families I offer a mix of the following:
‘You have picked out nearly all the important memories and presented them wonderfully. I have shed some tears ... It is one of the best things which has ever been done for me.’ (life review client)
Life review or biography work can be a healing process for the dying person to re-member parts of their life, share stories – perhaps bringing light to things that they have struggled to speak about or kept hidden for reasons of guilt or shame – in a safe and confidential space; or work together with me to create a short book or artwork (such as a calendar, collection of songs, photo album, or poem) that can be shared with or left for loved ones.
‘M’® Technique is a clinically proven, therapeutic hand or foot massage to promote relaxation. Touch can release powerful emotions in people who are isolated by illness, chronic pain, dementia, loss of mobility or reduced hearing or sight. In clinical settings touch can feel impersonal and functional. 'M'® Technique offers clinicians and those providing spiritual care and emotional support a simple, quick method of showing love and care through a gentle, non-invasive massage, which has been shown to reduce chronic pain and anxiety.
Authentic presence is a simple but profound practice drawing on the Zen Buddhist approach to spiritual accompaniment, based on the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. Combining deep listening, compassionate holding, blessing and meditation, this practice is intended to channel light and love to those who are dying.
‘How beautifully you allow people to open up to you and just be themselves! You certainly have the tools to be a wonderful companion in this place of transition. The gift you gave [Toni and Mike] was regular, reliable, presence. “I’m here, I’m keeping watch”. What a gift.’

‘Grave Talk’ conversations are one-to-one or small group conversations exploring aspects of living and dying ranging from what we hold most valuable in our lives to what we believe happens to us after death. They can be a starting point to thinking about both practical and spiritual aspects of our death.
These conversations can also be the basis for me to support practical preparation for end of life with those who are terminally ill: how and where do we want to die? Who would we want with us? How conscious would we want to be? What do we want to happen to our bodies and belongings after we die. Putting our house in order.
Please contact me if you would like to discuss one-to-one work with yourself or a loved one or family member. Sessions can be one-off, or ongoing over a period of weeks/months. For life review work, a minimum of three sessions of 1.5 – 2 hours is recommended.
