How to Get Clearances Needed for Student Teaching
· PDE now requires you to have clearances current within the last 12 months.
· This means you must reapply for your clearances every year, in Fall or Spring, before the date that your current clearances expire.
· If your clearances are not up to date (less than 12 months old) you cannot participate in any La Roche field experiences. Do not run this risk, because most semesters have at least one field experience.
· Clearances are all electronic now, some are even FREE (see details below).
· A copy of ALL clearances needs to be in your student file at La Roche.
· Keep your originals and take them to the school when you visit.

Tb Clearance
· Some districts also require a Tb check from a doctor’s office.
· Go to your doctor or Med Express and ask for a Tb test. You will need to return to the doctor’s office a few days after your first visit, so they can check the injection site.
· The doctor’s office should give you a signed form that states the results of your Tb test. Bring this signed form to Michelle to copy.
· If your Tb test is positive, you may need to schedule a chest x-ray.
