Guild members enjoy the benefits of participating in activities such as workshops with experts, charitable giving, open sew days, quilt challenges, quilt shows and more. View the opportunities below and click on the links above for more details.
Members are emailed a monthly newsletter where details for upcoming events, guest speakers, and activity information is provided. Hard copy newsletters are available upon request. Monthly meetings include guest speakers, a presentation from a guild member, a short business portion, and sharing your love of quilting.
Annual dues are determined each year and are $35-$45. The dues cover costs of monthly meeting guest speakers, refreshments, charitable activities, business management, and more. Each member is encouraged to participate in the Guild activities and responsibilities.
Annual Fly-In Quilt Show (formerly EAA Quilt Show). This show shares quilts made by Lakeside Quilter's Guild members.
Annual Christmas Party in December.
Fat Quarter Bingo in January.
Potluck Dinner and member Rummage Sale in July.
It's not about what we can do, it's what we can give.
Charitable giving is a major part of our Guild. Members have the opportunity to join small groups, come to Open Sew Days, or work on their own to make charitable items. Participation is voluntary but many members freely participate.
At each quilt show hosted by the Guild we have a Boutique where items made by Guild members are sold to raise money for the activities of the Guild. This is a great way to enhance your quilting skills and try something new.
Items to donate include but are not limited to seasonal items, baby bibs, mug rugs, orphan blocks/fabric/panels, potholders/hot pads, table runners, table toppers, bags/coin purses, small wall hangings, pin cushions/thread catchers, baked potato bags, aprons, ornaments, or anything else your heart desires.
Members, watch your newsletter email for information on what items are needed most.
For every item donated you receive a free slip to put your name in for the Quarter Chance Drawings.
Looking for a way to meet other Guild members and do a little sewing? Open Sew Days is for you!
During most winter months Guild members are encouraged to attend Open Sew Days. You may work on your own projects, get help from other members, or work on Charitable Giving items. It's all about sharing a day with like minded members of your community.
Check the monthly newsletter for dates/times/location (members only).
Guild members are encouraged to bring quilt items to share with the group during our monthly Guild meetings. It can be something you have made, something you received, or just something you would like others to know about. It's a great way for Guild members to get to know each other and maybe even find a friend that enjoys the same quilting techniques, colors, fabric brands as you.
Bring a project in progress or finished, we don't care - just share!
Visit our Facebook page for photos of the latest Show & Share presentations.
Each year members have an opportunity to participate in the Guild challenge. This may include making a small wall hanging around a specific color combination, fabric swatch, or theme, or participating in a mystery block of the month. You never know what it will be until it is announced. The challenge is catered to all skill levels and all members are encouraged to participate. The challenge quilts are shared during the annual Fly-In Quilt Show.
It is wonderful to see how everyone is inspired. There is talent within each of us! Don't hesitate to participate.
The Vice President works hard to find a variety and unique guest speakers for most of the monthly meetings throughout the year. Every effort is made to find presenters for topics based on suggestions from Guild members.
Some guest speakers will also offer a full or half day workshop for members to learn from the expert in a small group environment. Workshops typically include techniques for making different styles of quilt blocks and designs based on the expert's knowledge base. It's a great way to learn and grow in quilting while communing with other members with similar interests.
At each monthly meeting you have a chance win a prize for wearing your Guild name tag. Names are drawn near the end of the meeting and if you have your name tag on when your name is called, you will receive a prize.
You also have a chance to win prizes in the Quarter Chance Drawing. For each quarter you supply you can put your name in for a random drawing. If you make something for the Boutique, you will receive a free opportunity to put your name in as well.
There are several wonderful items to choose from each month such as fat quarters, patterns, sewing notions, storage containers, and more.
The lending library is available to any Lakeside Quilters' Guild member. There is a range of skills to be gleamed from the wide variety of books members are able to check out during the monthly meetings.
There is a three-month lending period, however it is expected that when you are finished with a book you will return it so other members may use it. A volunteer library manager is present at each meeting to assist with checking books out.

As a Guild member, you can use the fabric cutter and any dies available to make shapes in a simple and fast way. The cutter is easy to use. After a brief training, you will be on your own to create the fabric pieces you need!
To view dies available, learn more, and reserve the use of the cutter click this link - AccuQuilt Cutter.
The unending talents of our Guild members are not lost on our quilt community.
There are always opportunities to hold leading roles within Guild committees and the Guild as a whole. View the roles on our Contacts webpage or within the Guild Guide provided each year to Guild members. Not all roles take a lot of time and effort. Give yourself a chance to learn more about how to keep our Guild providing the great activities to our members.
If you are seeking more ways to share your talents beyond quilting through our Charitable Giving activities or volunteering in other ways within our Guild, visit the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Winnebago County's Volunteer Opportunities webpage.
There is always more to share with more in need.
